Focus Lighting is a project that was outsourced to me and my associate from the great guys over at Sourcelab. Our objective was simple, take the design that Sourcelab had created and turn it into a custom wordpress theme. Although a bit more complicated than that, we had to basically create an entirely custom solution, virtually turning wordpress into a whole new content management system making it as easy as possible for their client to upload portfolio projects to their site.
We took the slideshowpro plugin and integrated it into wordpress using a dynamically driven flash slideshow powered by XML files populated from the wordpress database. Basically in English that means that the client is able to upload an image through the wordpress's backend and it will automatically appear in various locations based on custom check boxes, no manual uploading via FTP for images, everything is contained neatly in the backend of wordpress and the best part is that the flash slideshow is automatically generated. The client can upload an image, chose for it to be in the front page slideshow AND in the individual portfolio page. Slideshow pro was also very cool to work with and very versatile, one of the only flash objects I would bother to touch. A demo is available while the actual site is still in development.
